Visiting the Valley

The Kennebec Valley is the widest north-south region of Maine, covering more than 5,000 square miles.

The valley's Kennebec River is 170 miles long and starts in Moosehead Lake and rolls into the Atlantic Ocean.

The world-class rapids of the Dead River feature the longest stretch of Class III to V whitewater in the East. The sixteen-mile masterpiece reaches its crescendo at Big Poplar Falls and the confluence with the Kennebec River.

The many lakes of the area offer exceptional outdoor recreation opportunities. There's an activity for everyone to enjoy, including boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, biking, camping, hunting, bird watching, and incredible sightseeing.
