Convenient to Waterville and Augusta

McGrath Pond, locally known as “McGraw Pond,” is included in the Belgrade Lakes of Maine. The pond sits less than ten miles west of Waterville, a charming town on the Kennebec River.

Waterville is home to restaurants, shops, schools, Colby College, LeFleur Airport, and Northern Light Maine Hospital.

The Augusta State Airport and Augusta Hospital are about a half-hour south of the pond.

McGrath Pond is a lesser-known but exceptionally beautiful body of water included in the Belgrade Lakes.

The pond features nearly 500 acres of water with a glorious shoreline of maples, oaks, elms, and birches. Maines foliage peaks from September to October, turning bright shades of red, orange, and yellow.

McGrath Pond’s beautiful scenery and peaceful waters make it a great place for boating, kayaking, canoeing, or fishing.

Anglers can reel in a variety of fish such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, white and yellow perch, black crappie, brown trout, and brook trout.

When the lake freezes over, residents partake in ice fishing, snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and sledding.

There are many attractions to visit in Augusta, the state's capital. It's around 20 miles away, perfect for a daycation to the city.

Fort Western is home to the country’s oldest wooden garrison building, which was built in 1754. Old Fort Western is a living history museum offering tours, hands-on activities, and unique interactive experiences involving the history of New England during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.

For outdoor enthusiasts, visit Viles Arboretum, a park with six miles of trails, over 200 species of trees to observe, and wildlife all on this 224-acre garden.

Golf enthusiasts should check out Belgrade Lakes Golf Club, an 18 hole course considered one of the top courses in Maine and New England. It includes fabulous greens and fairways and beautiful scenes of nature.
