Anglers looking to toss out a line can find brown trout, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, white perch, yellow perch, chain pickerel, hornpout, smelt, landlocked alewife, eel, white sucker, minnows, golden shiner, cusk, and pumpkinseed sunfish.
The many sandy beaches make it popular with swimmers, and a boat landing is located at the Yacht Club in the village of Wayne.
The lake has four islands named Androscoggin Island, Blodgett Island, Lothrop Island, and Norris Island. The islands have a diverse variety of rare species and are nesting habitats for bald eagles, ospreys, and great blue herons.
Outdoorsmen and women should be sure to go to Gott Pasture Preserve Trailhead, seven minutes away. This preserve has well-maintained, manageable trails and water access.
