Located along the St Croix River, Stillwater is one of the unique communities of the Twin Cities. It was ranked one of the top 10 “Prettiest Towns in America” by Forbes Magazine and consistently voted the Best Small Town in Minnesota.

Its downtown area features historic architecture but has the activity of a bustling modern city. Main Street includes restaurants, bars, live music, boutiques, and more.

The Twin Cities are approximately 30 miles away, where you will find the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport, several hospitals, and many attractions.

Picturesque Waters and Fun Activities

The St Croix River is more than a scenic view; many enjoy boating, fishing, and swimming. Several waterside marinas can store your boat or provide you with a rental.

A public boat ramp is located on the river just a few minutes north of Stillwater. St. Croix Boom Site Park features a sandy beach, rocky waterfall, and a small cave.

For a more sophisticated time on the water, you can take a dinner cruise on one of the multi-level Stillwater Paddlewheel Boats.

Lake Elmo, Lake Jane, Sunfish Lake, Colby Lake, Powers Lake, and many more are to the east of the Twin Cities. Some have few homes, while others are the hub of subdivisions.

The area offers many family-friendly biking trails as well as some for the more advanced.

The St. Croix River Crossing Loop Trail passes over the historic bridge into Wisconsin and back into Stillwater via the new bridge.

The Gateway-Browns Creek State Trail runs 48 miles from downtown to Saint Paul. It is traveled by bikers, rollerbladers, on foot, and by horse.

Some of the best golf courses are the Applewood Hills Golf Club, Logger’s Trail Golf Course, Stoneridge Golf Course, and the Oak Glen Golf Course.
