About the Area

Aroostook County is the largest county east of the Mississippi, boasting more surface area than Connecticut and Rhode Island combined. Its great size gives it its well-known nickname, “The County.”

Also featuring the beautiful Aroostook River, several lakes, and majestic forests, this county is also known as “The Crown of Maine” or “The Last Frontier of the East.”

BigRock Mountain is one of Maine’s largest and best ski resorts. The location offers day and night skiing, a continuous 1000-foot slope, tubing areas, and more.

Allagash Falls, Haystack Mountain, Madawaska Four Corners Park, and Peekaboo Mountain are other great places to explore.
