Eagle Lake

Located in Northern Maine

Eagle Lake is just one of the recreational features of Aroostook County, situated in the northern tip of Maine.

The town of Eagle Lake borders the northwestern end of the lake, offering restaurants, stores, lodging options, and the Fish River Rural Health Center. Travel on the Presque Isle for access to the international airport and extended dining options.

Lake Covering Over 5,000 Acres

The waters of Eagle Lake cover 5,581 acres and reach depths of 136 feet.

Eagle Lake and five other lakes are part of the Fish River Chain of Lakes. This is one of the more secluded lakes of the group, making it the perfect place for relaxation.

A Top-Notch Fishing Location

The tranquil waters of Eagle Lake are a well-kept secret among local anglers. The lake supports a healthy population of brook trout, lake trout, and landlocked salmon.

Fishing is not the lake’s only attraction; residents also enjoy boating, kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. The lake is a scene of ice fishing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and snowball fights during the winter.

On the western side of the lake, Old Hill Marina offers boat rentals, boat slips, RV sites, e-bike rentals, and more.

Camping and Other Activities

Clover Hill Campground, Birch Haven Campgrounds, Sporting Camps, and Fish River Lodge are excellent places to stay around the lake.

Aroostook State Park features 900 acres of woods and water for hiking, mountain biking, boating, fishing, and swimming. It is also a winter sports location, offering trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more.
