Due to the private nature of this lake, fishermen will not be interrupted by the boats and jetskis of non-residents. The boat launches located here are only for those that own property on the lake.
Deer Lake's wide variety of species includes largemouth and smallmouth bass, black crappie, yellow perch, rainbow trout, and lake trout. It's notable that in the 1960s, the state record lake trout (30 pounds, four ounces) was caught here.
Adults of age should be sure to visit Loon Lake Distillery. Tours and tastings are available here.
Those with an affinity for hiking should explore Kaniksu Road, a lightly trafficked 1.8-mile trail that offers the chance to see wildlife and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running and is best used from March until October.
