The sparkling waters of Rush Lake lie in the center of Otter Tail County next to Otter Tail Lake. Rush Lake has many full-time residents, and its several lake resorts bring in visitors from all over the country.

New York Mills and Perham are nearby if you are looking for restaurants, shops, schools, hotels, medical care, or other city establishments.

Naturally Clear Waters

Rush Lake is one of the county’s largest lakes, boasting 5,338 acres of water. It reaches depths of 68 feet but is much shallower around the shore.

It is part of the Otter Tail River Chain of Lakes, including Otter Tail Lake, Big Pine Lake, Little Pine Lake, Deer Lake, and the Lost Lakes.

Fun on the Lake

Lake activities of all kinds are done at Rush Lake. Pontoons, powerboats, sailboats, jet skis, kayaks, and canoes travel the waters.

Some like the thrill of water skiing, tubing, or wakeboarding, while others like kicking back on the shore. Many homes have a sandy beach of their own where residents picnic, sunbathe and swim.

Anglers share excitement over the lake’s well-sized walleye and northern pike. It is a great place to be for ice fishing season.

Nearby Attractions

Otter Berry Farm is located just above the lake, where you can pick bucket after bucket of strawberries and raspberries. Each fall, they make a corn maze that is a fun challenge for everyone.

Balmore Golf Course and the Thumper Pond Resort Golf Course are on the shores of Otter Tail Lake.

About 25 miles west of the lake, Maplewood State Park features over 9,000 acres of state-protected land. It features a significant amount of hiking and snowmobiling trails along with a swimming beach and campground.
