Glacial Lake of 4,381 Acres

Damariscotta’s waters, covering 4,381 acres, resulted from the last ice age 10,000 years ago. The glaciers left the lake with a unique shape, featuring 45 miles of shoreline.

The lake can be as deep as 114 feet deep and is 30 feet deep on average. A tour around the lakeshore might include sights of loons, osprey, Canadian geese, beavers, deer, moose, or a bald eagle.
