About Hamilton Lake

Near the Indiana-Ohio State Border

Hamilton Lake makes up 802 acres of crystal waters and a lush, wooded shore. Located in Northeast Indiana's beautiful Steuben County, Hamilton Lake is the fourth-largest lake. It was created in 1832 when several smaller lakes were damned together.

You can be across the Indiana-Ohio state border in under 15 minutes if you are looking to take a road trip. Fort Wayne, Indiana is conveniently located 40 miles away from Hamilton Lake.

Lake Recreation

Many fish species can be found here, including small and largemouth bass, perch, crappie, bluegill, and northern pike. Anglers will be happy to hear that bass tournaments occur every weekend from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Hamilton Lake is a trendy spot for watersports, including boating, swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, kayaking, and canoeing. There are two public boat launches to make it easier for people to load/unload their watercraft.

More Than the Water

There are several restaurants on the water that offer docks for patrons who still have their sea legs. There is also a public beach near the south dam if you would rather have a picnic on the shore.
