Geist Reservoir is located in the counties of Hamilton and Marion and with proximity to Indianapolis. This 1,890-acre reservoir was initially built in 1944 to be a water supply for Indianapolis, but soon became a favorite vacation spot for the state's residents.

Geist Reservoir is only 20 miles from the charming city of Indianapolis. Its proximity makes Geist Reservoir the perfect spot to enjoy lake life while easily accessing the city's amenities.

On the Lake

Once on the water, visitors can enjoy boating, fishing, swimming, and all water sports. Fishers will be especially happy to fish the large population of largemouth bass in the Geist Reservoir.

There are public boat ramps that make water access more convenient but make sure to be there early on the weekends because traffic fills up fast.
