Squirrel Lake stretches across 1,309 acres with a maximum depth of 46 feet. Located in Oneida and Vilas Counties, this large body of water can be found 85 miles north of Wausau and less than an hour south of the Northern Michigan border.

Life on the Water

With two public boat landings, visitors and residents can enjoy a day full of lake activities at Squirrel Lake year-round. Given the magnitude of this lake, you will find many species of fish that make these waters their home. Most commonly, you will catch musky, panfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, and northern pike.

Enjoy a relaxing day by the water, or get your adrenaline pumping with some heart-racing water sports. All visitors and residents can water-ski from 9 a.m. to sunset daily or enjoy leisurely activities like swimming and kayaking whenever they please!
