Papoose Lake

Located in Vilas County, Wisconsin

Papoose Lake is 422 acres with a maximum depth of 65 feet. The Town of Winchester is a very lively town with lots to do, but the town of Hayward has lots to do at just under two hours from Papoose Lake.

Lake Life

Papoose Lake is perfect for boating, tubing, swimming, and fishing. The many shaded channels that connect to Papoose Lake also allow for peace and quiet out on the lake.

Papoose Lake does have a few regulations in place for boating and watercrafts. Use of a watercraft or boat towing a person is only allowed between the hours of 9:00 a.m., and 7:00 p.m. Houseboats are not permitted on Papoose Lake. A watercraft or person shall not get within 200 feet of another watercraft or a boat towing a person. As well as no-wake-zones throughout the lake.

Fishing in Papoose Lake is plentiful and a popular activity. Common fish in Papoose Lake are musky, walleye, bass, panfish, and northern pike.

If you want a place the whole family can go, you won’t have to go far from Papoose Lake. Only 25 minutes from Papoose Lake, Rock Falls Riding Stables mixes the wild west with an adventure park. Mini golf, go-karts, and horseback riding guarantee that the kids will have a day of fun and adventure.

For the adults-only nights, Lake of the Torches Resort Casino gives a place for 21 and overs to sit back and roll some dice. Only 35 minutes from Papoose Lake, adults can go for a boat ride on the lake during the day and win big at night.

Restaurants are not hard to come by at Papoose Lake. There are places to eat everywhere within 20 minutes of Papoose Lake. Anything from shaved ice to a small town pub, there are so many choices to help make Papoose Lake feel like mom’s house.
