Namekagon Lake - Namakagon

Located in Bayfield County, Wisconsin

Namekagon Lake runs at a giant 3,227 acres with a maximum depth of 51 feet. Surrounded by Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, Namekagon Lake has beautiful scenery for miles. But if you're looking to get out of the forest and into town for a little bit, then it is just a 30-minute drive to Hayward, Wisconsin.

Lake Life

Namekagon Lake is perfect for kayaking, jet skiing, or boating. Especially because many restaurants line the lake and are accessible by water. There are a few slow-no-wake areas, but you are free to go outside those areas.

Common fish of Namekagon Lake include musky, panfish, bass, walleye, and northern pike.

Things to Do

Being surrounded by a National Forest has its perks! Namekagon Lake is within walking distance of over one million acres of activities such as hiking, camping, and beaches.

If you are more of a golf person, then Lakewoods Forest Ridges Golf Course is only 10 minutes from Namekagon Lake. The resort does not only offer golfing but has something for everyone. They host fishing tournaments directly out of Namekagon Lake and ATV rides and snowmobiles for the snowy months.

Eating and shopping

Good food is definitely not hard to come by at Namekagon Lake. Amazing restaurants surround Bayfield County, including many bars and coffee shops. Whether you want great Mexican food or classic meat and threes, there is something to pick from for everyone living on the lake.

If you are looking to shop, Bayfield County and other Counties around it have plenty of little shops to pick from. From clothing to antique shops, you can find everything you need to lay by the lake or decorate your new home.

Hospitals and airports

Hayward Area Memorial Hospital is a 35-minute drive from Namekagon Lake and is open 24 hours daily. This hospital also offers urgent care services during the day for those that need a quick answer.

While most airports around Namekagon Lake are municipal airports, these airports do offer complimentary food and shuttle service. If you are looking for an international flight, you will have to travel to Duluth National Airport, just under two hours from the lake.
