Thirty-eight miles from the lake is the 24-hour Hayward Area Memorial Hospital, and 58 miles from the lake is the Duluth International Airport making Lake Hay a primarily remote lake but not too far from all necessities in town.

If you take a minute drive out from the lake, you can eat at the Delta Diner. The diner has a great atmosphere and even better breakfast foods. Other restaurants surrounding the lake are The 300 Grill and the Iron River Pizza Parlor.
