Gateway Lake

Located in Vilas County, Wisconsin

With a short five acres and a maximum depth of eight feet, this remote little lake town is the ideal escape!

The 24-hour Aspirus Eagle River Hospital is less than twenty miles northeast of the lake and the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport is 45 miles from the lake as well making Gateway Lake fairly close to all necessities.

Life on the Water

Lake Gateway is the perfect lake to just relax and have a quick swim. If you want to just experience your own private little lake, Lake Gateway is the spot for you as it’s not really for boating or fishing. You can take a little canoe or paddle board out if you wish though!

What’s Nearby

Enjoy the breathtaking views and serenity of the Northwoods by hiking trails less than a mile from the lake itself on the Moon Lake Forest Trail and Agonikak National Recreation Trail. Moon Lake is the perfect hike for kids and families. Agonikak is great for walking and biking.

Star Lake Hiking Trail is a more well-known trail 20 miles from the lake. Moderate trails with scenic views, especially gorgeous in the fall.

For a sweet treat, stop at the Dari Maid for ice cream just a three-minute drive from Lake Gateway. It’s especially perfect after a hot day on the lake!

Less than a mile from the lake is T.J. Grizzlies, a local favorite for its fresh cheesy pizza, and Brew’s Pub, a great sports bar for its cheese curds and brews. Both are favored by locals with affordable prices.

If you’re up for a day trip and some wine tastings, check out Three Lakes Winery for its grand selection, tasty appetizers, and stunning scenery. Three Lakes Winery is also less than 30 miles from the lake.
