Deer Lake - Hancock

Located in Waushara County, Wisconsin

Right in the middle of Hancock, Wisconsin, you can find this 14-acre-sized lake in Waushara County. This lake has a natural beauty and feels that you simply can’t beat!

The nearest 24-hour hospital, Thedacare Medical Center, is exactly nineteen miles from the lake, while the closest regional airport, Central Wisconsin Airport, is about fifty miles from Deer Lake. There are a number of smaller airports near the lake; however, Deer Lake is a secluded lake for those that are looking for an escape.

Deer Lake is a quiet, secluded location that is perfect for getting away and being on your own on the water. Fishing for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass is common here as well as canoeing, kayaking, swimming, and just overall relaxing by the lake.

There are a lot of local nature preserves that are worth checking out by Deer Lake. Ship Rock is thirteen miles from the lake and has beautiful rock formations, nice hiking trails, and is a great place to camp and/or have a picnic. The Wisconsin Rapids Municipal Zoo is a 40-minute drive from Deer Lake and is perfect for a family day trip.

Nearby there are quite a few ice age trails, such as the Bohn Lake Ice Age Trail and the Ice Age Trail- Mecan River Segment. The Greenwood Wildlife Area also has very nice trails for walking and sightseeing.

Good Ol’ Boys is a well-known bar and grill nearby Deer Lake, definitely try out their cheese curds and ribs- comfort food is their specialty! Toastys Cafe serves breakfast, lunch, and even dinner, you really can’t find better cheesecake in Wisconsin. The Old Mill is “the definition of a neighborhood bar” with a rustic vibe and frequent fish fry. Good service and affordable drinks can be found at The Old Mill, open till 2 a.m.
