Dairyland Reservoir - Dewey

Located in Rusk County, Wisconsin

Tucked away in Dewey, Wisconsin, this 1870-acre-sized lake has a maximum depth of 70 feet. It is the perfect location to raise kids or even retire. Dairyland Reservoir has it all year-round, from scenic hiking, camping, fishing, and snowmobiling.

The nearest 24-hour hospital, Marshfield Medical Center, is about five miles from Dairyland. The closest regional airport is less than 40 miles away.

Life on the Water

At Dairyland Reservoir, there is a wide array of fish species and an abundant amount of fish altogether. It is common to catch walleye, musky, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, panfish, northern pike, sturgeon, and catfish in the reservoir.

There are also five boat landings available for the public at the reservoir. Dairyland offers 24 miles of shoreline that stretches into the Flambeau River.

Dairyland Reservoir is also used to enhance the knowledge of the environment for young children. For the past ten years, Dairyland staff have led numerous programs for young children at the reservoir.

Surrounding the reservoir are six parks that are perfect for all ages. The Dairyland Power Tailwater Park, the Community Park, the Quarry Park, the Josie Creek Park Extension, the Point Park, and the Einar P. Johnson Memorial Park are all hotspots for fishing, hiking, camping, and picnicking.

Six miles from the reservoir, you can grub at Grandpa’s Pizza and Grill for some fresh hot, cheesy pizza. They serve breakfast, lunch, and even dinner at the Ladysmith Family Restaurant, about five miles from the reservoir.

When you’re in desperate need of a drink or seven, 5th Quarter Sports Bar and the Miner Station are only a short five miles from the reservoir. Grab a buddy and watch a sports game while you’re there, both are favored by locals.
