Waughop Lake is a 30-acre lake situated in the Lakewood area outside Tacoma, Washington.

Waughop Lake is only 33 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and only a half-mile from Western State Hospital. The Waughop Lake/Lakewood area offers full K-12 Public education in addition to several private options. Tacoma Community College is also in the area.

An Abundance of Outdoor Activities

Anglers can land hatchery rainbow trout as well as naturally reproducing populations of black crappie, brown bullhead, largemouth bass, and yellow perch.

Fort Steilacoom Park is a 340 park adjacent to Lake Waughop featuring baseball, softball, and soccer fields. The park also features hiking paths, playgrounds, and a dog park.

The South Puget Sound Wildlife Area is less than three miles from Lake Waughop. This 100-acre open space features a trail system for walking and bicycling next to the Lakewood Fish Hatchery.

The Waughop Lake/Lakewood Area is a golfer’s paradise. The Lakewood area offers over a dozen high-rated courses available for play, including the Fort Steilacoom disc golf course.
