About Island Lake

Located on the Washington Islands

Island Lake is a picturesque body of water located in Kitsap County, Washington. It sits inside of Island Lake Park and is under the management of the park’s rules and regulations. Island Lake covers 41.20 acres, and the park covers an additional 23 acres of land.

As the lake’s name alludes, Island Lake is on Washington’s large island located off of its western coast. The lake runs parallel, across Elliot Bay, from the bustling city of Seattle.

Fun at the Park

Island Lake enjoys a year-round open season, but access is limited until Kitsap County Park opens. When the park is free, visitors and residents can enjoy amenities such as lake access, swimming area, fishing pier, walking trails, picnic areas, picnic shelter, playground, restrooms, community building, parking lots, and life jacket kiosks.

Fishing and Boating

Fishing is allowed on the lake by canoe, kayak, or small non-motorized boats. There is a public boat launch located along the lake near the community center. Island Lake is a non-motorized lake, but electric trolling motors are permitted.

The lake is stocked in the spring with 10”-12” Rainbow Trout, and Largemouth Bass are naturally found here. In June, there is a juvenile-only fishing event for the family to enjoy!

Visit Seattle, Washington

The city of Seattle is always a great choice when you plan a day/weekend trip. You can spend your time shopping in local markets, trying new food, sight-seeing, and enjoying the nightlife.
