Hicks Lake is a 162.3-acre body of water in Thurston County, Washington. The lake is located approximately 60 miles from Seattle, Washington, and 120 miles from Portland, Washington. Hicks Lake rests closer to Olympia, Washington, in the city’s suburbs.

Lake Recreation

Fishing is one of the more popular sports on Hicks Lake due to the frequent stocking of different fish species. The lake is annually stocked with 16-inch rainbow trout, and it has also been periodically stocked with brown trout. In addition to trout, the lake also supports naturally reproducing populations of black crappie, bluegill, largemouth bass, yellow perch, rock bass, and brown bullhead catfish.

You can also enjoy boating on Hicks Lake. There is a public boat launch for easier water access as well.

Surrounded by National Forest

If you are into nature, Hicks Lake is the perfect place for you. There are extensive national forests within a few miles of the lake in each direction. The closest one being the Capitol State Forest to the west. This forest encompasses 110,000 acres in size and is a beautiful recreation destination. You can enjoy hiking 150 miles of trail, camping, biking, horseback riding, and off-roading.

You can enjoy similar recreational activities in many of the other forest areas as well. There is no shortage of greenery!
