About Duck Lake

Along the Shore

Duck Lake is in the far western part of Washington on Point Brown Peninsula. The lake is part of the community of Ocean Shores.

The large and long lake stretches down the Gray's Harbor beachfront on the peninsula's eastern side. The lake is between two large water bodies on the peninsula, with North Bay to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Both are a short drive from the lake.

Due to its unique location near an ocean, the lake warms up earlier than other lakes, bringing tourists and fishers at earlier times.

Duck Lake is a famous lake and offers a variety of lakefront views and lake access homes. The lake and peninsula are to the west of Olympia and far southwest of Seattle.

Large Attractions for a Large Lake

The activities and attractions on the lake and near the lake provide guests with plenty of ways to pass the time at Duck Lake.

The largest attraction near the lake is the Oyhut Wildlife Recreation Area and Beach. The area offers a variety of things to do, such as bird watching and nature walking.

The area is as an official Washington State Birding Trail, where a variety of birds find their nests at the wildlife reserve. Every species of waterfowl can be found in the area. The recreation area also provides its guests with access to beach fronts nearby, located in between Oyhut Bay and Damon Point.

Other activities can be found in the nearby town of Ocean Shores. One of the most popular venues in the city is the Ocean Shores Marina. This marina allows for commercial fishing, dockside seafood markets, and whale watching tours.

Fishing is also popular on the lake and in the area. With so many different types of water in the vicinity, the variety of fish is quite large. On the lake, anglers can catch rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, bluegill, and crappie. Deep-sea fishing can lead to catches of tuna, halibut, salmon, and more. Catching shrimp is also available.

A Lake for Everyone

The large Duck Lake provides plenty of outdoor pastimes for people of all ages. Its prime location between a bay and an ocean, along with nearby parks and nature reserves, makes this lake a highly-active destination.
