Off the Beaten Path

Clear Lake is in a distinct location, with multiple lakes of similar and smaller size surrounding it. Furthermore, its close vicinity to the mountains to the south makes for great outdoor activities and views.

Clear Lake is away from major cities in Washington, being far south of Tacoma. The lake is southeast of the small town of Yelm.

There are also two large lakes farther out from the smaller lakes surrounding Clear Lake. Alder Lake lies to the southeast of the lake while Riffe Lake is south of the lake.

Clear Lake can offer its residents and guests privacy, with mountains on one side and distance from other cities on the other side.

Activities

While Clear Lake is secluded, it is still beloved by those who visit. The lake is known to be a spot for different types of boaters. Fishing boats and pontoon boats are frequented on the lake. The speed limit for boats on the lake is five mph.

Fishing is also popular on the lake. The most common species caught are trout of varying kinds, largemouth bass as well as salmon.

Every April and May, the state of Washington fills Clear Lake with approximately 16,000 trout to ensure good fishing and stable population control.

What makes Clear Lake fishing special is the ability for anyone to find a unique fishing spot. There are many ponds and smaller lakes and the Nisqually River to the north, which provide a variety of visually-pleasing sights while also supplying fish.

For those who love the water, Clear Lake is a prime location. Depending on how far an individual is willing to travel, many ponds, lakes, streams, rivers, and bays can be reached.
