About Big Timber Lake

The Timberlakes

Big Twin Lake is appropriately named, with two bodies of water forming the two lakes. Big Timberlake is located to the north, while the smaller sized Little Timberlake is south of the lake. Both lakes have access to the same amenities, activities, and resources.

The lakes are in the western part of Washington state, on the Case Inlet's western side. The lakes sit in the Methow Valley of Okanogan County around three miles south of Winthrop.

The lakes can be accessed from two main roads covering the south and east of East Pickering Road and East Agate Road.

Seclusion and Activity

Big Twin Lake offers residents and guests the chance to get away from it all, being distant from large city life. However, there are still activities to get involved in once arriving at the lakes.

The Big Twin Lake Campground offers its guests multiple ways to get active outdoors. The campground contains a tenting area, RV hookups, a children's play area, a swim dock, and paddleboat rentals.

Multiple forms of fishing are permitted in the area as well, such as fly fishing. Rainbow trout comprise the lakes as the most common fish that is caught.

Winthrop

The nearby town of Winthrop is a smaller historic city. It is known for having multiple options for views and activities, depending on the season.

During the warmer months, visitors can go to the Okanogan National Forest near the city.

During the winter, Winthrop is known for its extensive collection of cross-country ski trails, comprising over 120 miles of trail.

Unique Lakes

No matter which lake an individual wishes to be closer to, Big Timberlake and Little Timberlake provide a unique experience. The presence of valleys, mountains, lakes, rivers, and inlets give sightseers plenty to take in. No matter if it is summer or winter, people are drawn in from all over to participate in the various activities.
