Echo Lake is located in Plymouth, Vermont. It is 10 minutes north of the town of Ludlow.

Two hours north is the nearest airport, Burlington International, and 35 minutes northwest is the nearest hospital, Rutland Regional Medical Center.

If you’re wanting to get a quick bite to eat, head into Ludlow and check out places like Sam’s Steakhouse, Mojo Cafe, and Killarney. Ludlow also has churches, a pharmacy, gas stations, and a wine store.

What’s There to Do on the Water?

Anglers should expect to reel in lake trout, yellow perch, and largemouth bass, among seven other known types of fish in Echo Lake.

On the southwest side of the lake, there is a public ramp and dock to launch your boat, canoe, or kayak.

What’s Around Echo Lake?

This is the best location a skier could hope for, as there are two mountains full of slopes less than 30 minutes away!

Mt. Okemo, 10 minutes south, features over 100 trails and slopes to ski during the winter. However, when the snow melts, there is still plenty to do, like biking, hiking, and mini-golf.

Mt. Killington, 25 minutes north, features similar skiing opportunities during the winter, as well as biking, hiking, and golfing. Killington also has an “Adventure Center”, where visitors can take a ride on the 4,800-foot alpine coaster, take on an obstacle course, or race on the zip line!

There are also plenty of other hiking opportunities, with multiple state parks surrounding Echo Lake, like Camp Plymouth State Park that is just across the road. Others that are less than an hour away are Coolidge State and Mt. Ascutney State Park.
