The nearest airport, Burlington International, is around 90 miles south. The nearest hospital, the North Country Hospital and Health Center, is around five miles away.

On the Water Fun

This location will be a field day for anglers! Not only can they fish for 11 types of species on Lake Salem, but there are at least seven different bodies of water surrounding the lake for them to choose from. If you aren’t wanting to travel and simply have a nice day fishing on Lake Salem, look out for brown trout, smallmouth bass, and chain pickerel.

There is also a public concrete boat ramp in the southeast corner of the lake, so bring your boat, kayak, or canoe!

Around the Area

If you bring your furry best friend to the lake, there’s no reason to leave them out of the fun! Less than five minutes away from this location is the Kingdom Dog Park, a community-organized and off-leash dog park that has over 1,000 acres to enjoy.

To learn the history of this area of Vermont, head down to the Old Stone House Museum. This wonderful resource houses collections, museums, and archives about this historic part of Vermont. Old Stone House also hosts multiple events year-round.

When you don’t want to cook, head into Newport and grab a bite to eat at multiple local restaurants like The Eastside Restaurant and Pub, Westside Market and Deli, and Brown Cow.
