Stillhouse Hollow Lake is situated between Dallas and Houston off of I-35 and is only an hour north of Austin. A commute to Austin will give you access to the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, St. David’s South Medical Center, and many reliable hotels and restaurants.

6424-Acre Recreational Lake

The Stillhouse Hollow Lake was impounded in 1968 to be a source of water for nearby communities and prevent flooding downstream.

People from the surrounding communities quickly turned it into a recreational lake; it was the perfect escape from the city. This 6424-acre lake has an average depth of 36 feet and 57 miles of shoreline.

Clear Waters Make for Excellent Swimming and Boating

Boaters commonly come out to Stillhouse Hollow Lake to enjoy the uncrowded waters. Watercraft such as pontoons, fishing boats, wave runners, speed boats, kayaks, and paddleboats are all found on the lake.

Many of the visitors take part in water sports like skiing and wakeboarding. One of the lake’s beaches or sandy bluffs is a great spot to soak up the sun or swim in the crystal waters.

Parks and Fishing

Dana Peak Park borders the lake and has over 30 campsites, restrooms, a 4-lane boat ramp, a swimming beach, and nature trails that permit horseback riding.

Chalk Ridge Falls Park on the east side of the lake can become your favorite place to hike. The pet-friendly trails feature waterfalls along with wooden bridges and a cable bridge.

There is excellent fishing at Stillhouse Hollow Lake thanks to its pristine waters. Fishers can fish for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, crappie, white bass, or sunfish.
