Toledo Bend Reservoir is the fifth largest lake in the country, covering 181,600 acres along the Texas-Louisiana border. The cities of Alexandria and Shreveport are within 100 miles of the lake, home to major facilities like airports, hospitals, and hotels.

Largest Man-Made Lake in the South

Toledo Bend is a recreational treasure of the south, known as the largest human-made lake in the southern United States.

The lake is known as one of America’s five best bass fishing spots with 14-pound bass records. Catfish, crappie, and other sport fish also challenge the anglers. They can fish the great expanse from their boat or one of the 14 fishing docks along the shore.

Boating, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and other water sports are also popular at Toledo Bend. At a lake this size, the possibilities are endless.

Lake Events

This body of water hosts many annual events. Zwolle Tamale Fiesta is one of its most popular; it honors the Spanish settlers and American Indians who created the area’s unique culture.

Another famous event is the Mud Truck Madness & Music Festival, where drivers take their rigs through a 525-foot mud pit and enjoy live music all weekend.

Sabine National Forest

Sabine National Forest claims 160,656 acres along the lake’s western shore. The park features many family-friendly camping locations. The park’s list of activities is endless, including boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, and mountain biking.

Fun in the City

Shreveport is less than 100 miles north of Toledo Bend, home to fun attractions like Sam’s Town Hotel & Casino, Shreveport Aquarium, Splash Kingdom Waterpark, and American Rose Center.
