Lake Buchanon is located near the areas of Burnet, Tow, Buchanan Lake Village, Bluffton, and Buchanan Dam. The lake is also 66 miles away from the city of Austin.

The closest hospital to Lake Buchanon is Ascension Seton Highland Lakes and is about a 20-minute drive away. There are many smaller airports nearby, but the closest major airport is Austin-Bergstrom International and is one hour and 15 minutes away.

Stock up on snacks and groceries at H-E-B about 20 minutes away, or try one of the recommended restaurants such as Porky’s, Cafe Twenty-Three Hundred, and Bill’s Burgers Wings and Things.

The best mountain biking park in the state is right off the northern edge of the lake. Spider Mountain Bike Park is the only park in Texas that has a chairlift for you and your bike. Once at the top of the mountain, there are a variety of trails to choose from.

For a guided tour on the lake, be sure to visit the Vanishing Texas River Cruise. On the tour, visitors and residents can take in the sights of regional and migrating birds, native wildlife, waterfalls, and towering cliffs. They also offer kayak and canoe rentals for creating your own adventure.
