Lake Weatherford

Located off of US 80 and US 180

Lake Weatherford is located just east of Weatherford and 19 miles from downtown Fort Worth. In Fort Worth, you will find the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Hulen Mall, many hotels and endless dining options.

Impounded in 1957

Lake Weatherford impounded in 1957 and now covers 1,187 acres. The lake has a maximum depth of 39 feet that fluctuates 2-8 feet every year.

Water Activity

The lake welcomes all sorts of watercraft, such as pontoon boats, speed boats, or fishing boats. The Weatherford Marina is home to the Pub and Grub that claims to have the “Best Burger on the Lake,” but they also offer tacos, PO-boys, wings, and more.

For any boating needs, you can visit their Motel & Beer Barn that has life jackets, oil, snack foods, beverages, and all sorts of fishing supplies. The marina offers kayak and canoe rentals for anyone who wants to take a paddle around the lake.

The lakeside area has something for everyone: pavilions, picnic areas, sand volleyball courts, and walking areas.

Fishing and Nearby Attractions

Fishers from all around come to Lake Weatherford on Thursday Nights from March to October for the weekly fishing tournament. A one or two-person team can try for the 1st or 2nd place cash prize or the Big-Bass Pot that has $5 from every team entered.

If one wishes to travel to the city of Fort Worth, there are attractions such as the Fort Worth Water Gardens, the Fort Worth Zoo, or the Kimbell Art Museum.
