Conveniently Located Between Longview and Hallsville

The Highway Lakes are located right off of US-80 just eight miles east of Longview and three miles west of Hallsville. The lakes are a beautiful, laid-back environment where you can get a taste of country living.

With restaurants, bars, shopping malls, hotels, and attractions in Longview, the fun never has to stop. Its wide variety of businesses along with Good Shepherd Hospital and East Texas Airport makes it easy for city workers, travelers, and out-of-state visitors.

In Hallsville, you will find fast-food, mom-and-pop restaurants, banks, grocery outlets, salons, and more.

Popular Swimming Holes Since the 20s

In the early 1900s, Nathaniel “Nay” Green was well-known in Hallsville as a peach grower, businessman, and framer. After he built the Highway Lakes, he was known for the town’s most popular swimming holes.

Lake A, covering four acres, was built around or before 1920. By 1929, Lake B was completed with 36 acres. In the years later, Lake C's 17 acres was dug by Sapp Nursery. It features a densely wooded shoreline with few developments.

Kick Back and Relax

The Highway Lakes are perfect for escaping to. The smaller lakes are great for fishing, swimming, or kayaking. Lake B gets the action of pontooning, motorboating, and skiing.

The lakeshore is perfect for birdwatching, picnicking, or just watching the action. Sunsets at the Highway Lakes are magnificent and the clear skies allow for stargazing.

City Fun

Hallsville hosts the Western Days event each October. The celebration invites food vendors, boutiques, businesses, and crafters to set up a truck or tent at Hallsville City Park.

Several golf courses are located in Longview, including The Challenge at Oak Forest, Wood Hollow Golf Club, Alpine Golf Course, and Pinecrest Country Club.

Longview Mall, Longview World of Wonders, Longview Escape Room, and the Museum of Fine Arts are popular locations in the city.
