Lake Barkley

Located in Stewart & Houston Counties, Tennessee

Lake Barkley covers 57,000 acres, making it a massive lake with plenty of space and more choices for lake living. It was formed by the damming of the Cumberland River and flows into Tennessee. It is connected with Kentucky Lake by a dam, which runs parallel for over 50 miles, and is separated by the Land Between the Lake National Recreation Area.

On and Around the Water

Land Between the Lakes is a 17,000-acre park between Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake. Its wildlife, scenery, and activities attract over one million visitors a year. The park features 500 miles of trails that can be explored on foot, by bike, or on horseback. The Turkey Bay OHV Area is located within the park. It features 100 miles of off-roading trails for ATVs, side-by-side vehicles, and jeeps. The Elk and Bison Prairie is a 700-acre enclosure where the mammals and their young freely roam. Tour the grasslands in the summer to see a variety of birds, butterflies, and wildflowers.

Houston County Community Hospital: Emergency Room- is located about 10 minutes from the area and provides 24-hour service. The nearest major airport is Nashville International Airport, located about an hour and 15 minutes from the area.
