The lake is also a popular weekend fishing spot. Species that inhabit Wallenpaupack are smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, walleye, pickerel, yellow perch, trout, striped bass, channel catfish, and a variety of panfish.

Surrounding Promised Land Lake is a multitude of State Game Lands. Managed by the state, these plots of land are a dedicated space for legal hunting and trapping.
