Near the Pennsylvania State Border

The Delaware River drains 14,119 square miles in four states: Delaware, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

The Delaware River is one of nineteen "Great Waters" recognized by America's Great Waters Coalition. It has long been a place of travel, commerce, and sustenance for the towns and cities on its shores.

The river runs along with the New York and Pennsylvania state borders, making it a grand place for either state to vacation, permanently relocate, or find a summer home.

One of the main attractions to the Delaware River is the excellent fishing opportunities that anglers find here. The river supports more than 60 species, including popular game fish like Eastern brook trout, striped bass, and migrating river herring.

In addition to fishing, visitors can enjoy boating, camping, hunting, hiking, kayaking, canoeing, and wildlife viewing along Delaware. Different activities can be enjoyed in individual river sections due to their size and depth.

Nearby Forests

Along the New York section of the Delaware River, the Cherry Ridge Wild Forest and Delaware Wild Forest run parallel to the southern shoreline.

In the forests, nature lovers can enjoy hiking, camping, boating, paddling, fishing, hunting/trapping, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and wildlife viewing in the 27,800-acre swathe of land.

Nearby Cities

Residents on the Delaware River can quickly drive to the cities of New York or Albany. Depending on your location on the river, the Delaware River is approximately 150 miles from the famous city of New York. Albany is roughly the same distance away.
