North Dakota
Located in North Dakota, Lake Tschida real estate is the second largest market in the state for lake homes and lake lots.
On average, there are around 10 lake homes for sale on Lake Tschida, and very few lake lots and land parcels.
Lake Tschida is a large, 3,400-acre public lake an hour and a half away from Bismarck near Elgin, North Dakota.
It is 24 minutes from Jacobson Memorial Hospital and an hour and a half from Mercer County Regional Airport. Within 30 minutes is a SuperValu and an R Family Market.
Lake Tschida was named after Micheal Tschida Sr., an Australian immigrant and North Dakota settler who became the first Mayor of Glen Ullin in 1906. Tschida was a proponent of building the Heart Butte Dam, which created the lake in 1949.
The lake sits on 7,575 acres of public land in the mists of the Heart Butte Reservoir. This land offers an abundance of wildlife and a beautiful setting for hunting ring-necked pheasant, sharp-tailed grouse, white-tailed deer, and mule deer.
The ten recreation areas scattered around the shoreline facilitate campsites as well as grills, shelters, restrooms, and potable water.
In the summer, Lake Tschida residents enjoy boating, swimming, and water skiing. In the cooler months, cross country skiing, trapping, and ice fishing become popular activities.
Anglers on the lake enjoy reeling in gizzard shad, northern pike, saugeye, smallmouth bass, tiger muskellunge, walleye, white crappie, and yellow perch. A public boat ramp is on the southeast side of the lake.
Welcome to the capital of North Dakota, the great city of Bismark! The area was once navigated by Lewis and Clark and has since become a central location for North Dakota culture and trade. Consequently, it has endless opportunities for prospective visitors.
