Lake Wheeler is located at the edge of Raleigh, North Carolina, around 10 miles from the city's heart.

Lake Wheeler is 650 acres wide, and its medium size provides the best of both worlds of both spacious and cozy.

Explore the Outdoors

Residents can launch off of the dock with their boats (both motorized and not), and residents can participate in watersport activities such as skiing and tubing. Swimming and personal watercraft like jet skis are not permitted.

Fishing is allowed on the two designated piers, and bank fishing is not allowed on the shorelines. Anglers can expect to catch largemouth bass, channel catfish, blue catfish, and bluegill.

Lake Wheeler Park has 150 acres of land and a buffer around the lake area. Residents can rent a boat, pay to launch personal boats and use the fishing rod and reel loaner program. Other amenities here include a small concession stand, a large conference room, picnic rentals, a sand volleyball court, and a playground.

Pullen Park was the first public park in North Carolina and remains a great place for families and young children to enjoy the day outside. This park offers paddle boat rentals, carousel rides, playgrounds, train rides, and more! (About 15 minutes)

Raleigh is home to many museums, such as the North Carolina Museum of Art, the Museum of Natural Sciences, and the Marbles Kids Museum. (About 15 minutes for each)

Another great way to see Raleigh is by exploring downtown. Here, you will find amazing and delicious dining options such as Jimmy V’s Osteria + Bar, Mulino Italian Kitchen & Bar, and 10th & Terrace for drinks overlooking the pretty city lights. (About 15 minutes for each)

Residents of Lake Wheeler can visit many local restaurants, such as regardless Cafe (about 15 minutes) and Rey’s Restaurant. (about 15 minutes)

Raleigh also offers a great shopping scene, so be sure to visit Crabtree Valley Mall or North Hills. (About 25 minutes for each)
