Lake Crabtree

Location and Access

Located in Wake County, North Carolina, Lake Crabtree sits on 520 acres. It is in the city of Morrisville, just 20 minutes away from Raleigh. Raleigh is home to UNC Rex Hospital and Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

On the Lake

At Lake Crabtree, you can take your paddle boats, sailboats, and electric motorboats out on the water. Visitors can use their personal boat or rent a boat from the park. There are a few public boat launch areas around the lake.

Anglers are also welcome at Lake Crabtree. You can fish from your boat or at the handicap-accessible fishing pier and platform. Fish in the lake include largemouth bass, blue catfish, black crappie, and bluegill.

The park around Lake Crabtree also offers unique fun activities like drone flying, geocaching, photography, and model rocket opportunities!

Around Town

Lake Crabtree County Park offers a variety of activities outside of the water. It offers bike trails, hiking trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, and even an observation tower! The park also has gardens where you can admire the beautiful scenery.

You can also explore Raleigh when you feel the need to get away from the lake. In Raleigh, you can visit fun places like William B. Umstead State Park, the North Carolina Museum of Art, and the Museum of Natural Sciences. There are also a few gardens, arboretums, and arenas to keep you entertained!

The first public park in North Carolina was Pullen Park, which is still a wonderful spot for families with young children to spend the day outside. Rental paddle boats, carousel rides, playgrounds, train rides, and more are available at this park. Raleigh also has a vibrant downtown area for you to discover! You can start by trying local restaurants like SmokeStacks Cafe, Beasley’s Chicken + Honey, and 10th & Terrace.
