Near Town

Trout Lake is about a five-minute drive from Bolton, New York, and around an hour from Watertown, New York.

The lake is about a 30-minute drive to Glen Falls Hospital and the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. The lake is also near Lake George, Brant Lake, and Loon Lake.

History of Trout Lake

Trout Lake served as a water source for Hastings Mills boilers until the city built its water system in the 1800s. During cold winters, the lake became a famous ice skating rink. Aldeyn Hendry Hamber donated the land surrounding the lake in 1960. Since WWII, Trout Lake has provided East Vancouver's only beach.

Spanning 371 acres, Trout Lake has all the lake's joys while maintaining a smaller lake atmosphere. Residents can swim or boat around the lake, and anglers will love the local populations of bass and trout.

If you are looking for a fun day trip, residents can trip to Ticonderoga, New York, to the Star Trek: Original Series Set, and take a tour.

After being canceled in 1969, most of the original sets were dismantled and destroyed. Superfan James Cawley began to rebuild the sets, and after many years visitors can now tour the most accurate rebuild of the original sets.
