Otisco Lake is the easternmost of the 11 finger lakes, located just 20 miles southwest of Syracuse. Conveniences like Syracuse Hancock International Airport, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse University, and more are just a short drive away.

Lake of 2,214 Acres

Otisco Lake is a long, slim body of water running for six miles and covering 2,214 acres. Its waters reach depths of 76 feet and are 33 feet deep on average.

In 1869, a dam was built on Nine Mile Creek and was later rebuilt in 1908 to raise water levels by eight feet.

The Otisco Causeway runs across the southern end of the lake. The historical landmark was initially used for wagons crossing the lake. Now the causeway is impassable but is still a popular location with fishers.

Otisco Lake is well-loved for its clear waters, natural landscapes, and proximity to Syracuse. Motorboating, fishing, and swimming are the most popular activities.

The Otisco Lake Marina offers various boat rentals, including pontoons, kayaks, motorboats, rowboats, and more.

The lake is a hit with anglers due to its great variety of fish. It is annually stocked with walleye, brown trout, and tiger musky, but is also noted for excellent catches of largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, and perch.

According to routine fishery reports, largemouth bass over 20 inches are commonly recorded at Otisco Lake.

The Otisco Lake Annual Fishing Derby is an event that draws more visitors each year to celebrate the start of bass season.

Otisco Lake Campgrounds offer over 50 campsites for tents, RVs, and more. Located next to the marina, you will have easy access to rentals for ultimate lake enjoyment.

Ten Miles of the Finger Lakes Trail winds around Otisco Lake. The path is excellent for hiking with views of the water, wildlife, and more.
