Lamoka Lake

Near the Finger Lakes Region

Lamoka Lake is a 588-acre lake located in northwestern Schuyler County about two miles west of Tyrone, New York. Binghamton, New York is around an hour and a half away, offering other big-city attractions and amenities.

Lamoka Lake is often mentioned collectively with Waneta Lake, which is just to the north and connected by a 0.7-mile channel that flows through the Waneta-Lamoka Wildlife Management Area.

Lamoka Lake is located right next to Keuka Lake, and the much larger Seneca Lake is less than 20 minutes to the east.

You can enjoy boating, paddling, swimming, and fishing on the waters of Lamoka Lake.

Fishing in Lamoka Lake is very similar to Waneta Lake, providing anglers with excellent opportunities to catch quality-sized largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and occasional smallmouth bass. Bluegills, yellow perch, and black crappie are plentiful and dominate the panfish catch. Ice fishing is also a popular form of fishing during the winter months.

What makes Lamoka Lake unique is its proximity to the Finger Lakes. The Finger Lakes are eleven long, narrow lakes near the shore of Lake Ontario.

A large tourism draw for the Finger Lakes region is its premier wineries. Named "the world's most beautiful wine region," readers of Budget Travel magazine, there are many outstanding, world-class Finger Lakes wineries located in the hills along Keuka Lake. Many different wine tours are offered throughout the area, and it is the perfect way to spend a warm summer afternoon.

Due to the high volume of tourism in this area garners, there is plenty of outdoor recreation, entertainment, events, wineries, restaurants, museums, and shopping for you to enjoy.
