Lake Ontario is one of the five famous Great Lakes of North America. It is the fourteenth largest lake globally and covers land in the United States and Canada. Lake Ontario is over four million acres in size, with 634 miles of shoreline, and you won't have any trouble finding your perfect home here.

New York is a famous state to enjoy Lake Ontario's shores, and the state encompasses over 200 miles on the southern shore of this great lake. With the lake's gorgeous landscape, it is no wonder that Ontario translates to "beautiful lake."

The Rochester Area is regarded as one of the top ten lake markets in New York and covers Lake Ontario's southern shore. The city is about 73 miles northeast of Buffalo, 87 miles west of Syracuse, and 226 miles east of Albany.

Fishing is a massive draw for tourism to the area. Lake Ontario produces some of the largest king salmon known to the states, and trout is always a famous catch here.

In the summer, expect to find chinook, coho salmon, brown trout, and steelhead on the shore, and these fish increase in size as the season goes along. You can also find walleye, pike, muskie, and smallmouth bass, and the famous salmon and trout.

In addition to all the pretty foliage, you will also find a wealth of culturally and historically significant monuments like the Vietnam Memorial, the John Dunbar Memorial Pavilion, and Warner Castle, to name but a few.

The Memorial Art Gallery, RMSC Strasenburgh Planetarium, Seneca Park Zoo, Rochester Museum & Science Center, and the George Eastman Museum are great educational stops to make during your time in Rochester.
