Clear Lake

Clear Lake is a small public lake in the heart of New York’s rural North Country in Alexandria, New York. Syracuse is under 95 miles away.

River Hospital Inc. is within 15 minutes from the lake, and Ogdensburg International Airport is 50 minutes away. There are also local grocery stores within 15 minutes.

There are several seafood restaurants by the river such as the local favorite, Cavallario’s Steak and Seafood.

Fishing Opportunities

Anglers can expect to reel in bass, bluegill, catfish, crappie, northern pike, perch, sunfish, and walleye. There is a boat launch on the west side of the lake.

The St. Lawrence River, just 12 minutes from Clear Lake, is a renowned fishing location, recognized for smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, northern pike, and muskellunge. The river forms the border between the United States and Canada.

Lakeside residents can enjoy hunting, trapping, and wildlife viewing, as well as hiking, kayaking, and canoeing.

The Red Hill Preserve provides two loop trails sitting atop a beautiful sandstone bluff and winding through tall oak trees.

Milton J. Rubenstein Museum of Science and Technology, which is set apart by its magnificent planetarium, as well as its status as the only domed IMAX theater in the state of New York.
