The sprawling lake town, Watertown, sits along the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, just an hour’s drive from Black Lake. It is one of the larger nearby cities with restaurants on the river, malls for shopping, and places to stop and have a drink.
Ives Hill Country Club is a great place to stop for a weekend round of golf. With 18 holes on a well-manicured green, you are sure to have a relaxing time practicing your game.
The New York Zoo is also located in Watertown and spans 32 acres with dozens of native species living in their habitats. Some animals are more common, like black bears and turtles, while others like the Canada lynx have earned an endangered or threatened status.
