Lake Ontario is one of the five famous Great Lakes of North America. It is the fourteenth largest lake globally and covers land in the United States and Canada. Niagara Falls is located 17 miles northwest of Buffalo. The city is most popular for the group of three waterfalls at the southern end of Niagara Gorge. The falls make this area a major tourist attraction and one of the United States' natural beauties.

Fishing is a massive draw for tourism to the area. Lake Ontario produces some of the largest king salmon known to the states, and trout is always a famous catch here.

In the summer, expect to find chinook, coho salmon, brown trout, and steelhead on the shore, and these fish increase in size as the season goes along. You can also find walleye, pike, muskie, and smallmouth bass, and the famous salmon and trout.

The Beauty of Niagara Falls

The waterfalls themselves are located in Niagara Falls State Park, the oldest state park in the United States. The park stretches over 400 acres, with 140 acres sitting underwater.

As many know, Niagara Falls is no small water feature. Over 3,160 tons of water flows over Niagara Falls every second!

Because this area is such a popular tourist attraction, visitors and residents have plenty of restaurants, bars, entertainment, and local shops to visit.
