Kayuta Lake sits on the outskirts of the Adirondack Mountains northwest of Bardwell Mill, New York.

To get to Syracuse, it only takes about an 80-minute drive to the west. Lake Ontario's sandy shores are not much farther from Kayuta Lake, which is only about 90 minutes away.

Enjoy the Waters

Fishing is a popular activity for visitors and residents of Kayuta Lake. Fish species present in the lake are smallmouth bass, pickerel, white sucker, rock bass, yellow perch, bluegill, and black bullhead.

There is carry-down ramp access on the north shore located on State Dam Road. Residents also enjoy kayaking, canoeing, boating, camping, fishing, and wildlife viewing.

The Kayuta Campground is a popular stop for visitors and a fun weekend getaway for residents. There is a playground, shuffleboard, basketball, volleyball, an arcade, outdoor laser tag, archery, themed weekend events, a general store, and more.

Local Stops

There are a few restaurants near the shores of Kayuta Lake. The BuffaloHead Steakhouse, Campbell's Diner, Kratzy's Bar & Grill, and Michael Alder Creek Inne are a few local favorites.

For golfers, the Alder Creek Golf Course & Country Inn is just down the road from Kayuta Lake. It is a great place to play a round of golf and enjoy the beautiful New York landscapes.

Visit Syracuse, New York

Syracuse is only 80 minutes from Kayuta Lake and is a great place to spend the day shopping, spend a romantic weekend, or grab a quick dinner and a movie.

You can visit the Museum of Science & Technology to brush up on your tech knowledge or admire art at the Everson Museum of Art.

The Rosamond Gifford Zoo is home to more than 700 animals on 43 acres. Some of the more popular animals include Asian elephants, Humboldt penguins, and Amur tigers. It is a great place to take a romantic walk through the zoo.
