Duck Lake is a 213-acre lake between Rochester and Syracuse in Conquest, New York. The lake is highly vegetated, which makes for excellent fishing.
It is 30 minutes from the Auburn Community Hospital and 45 minutes from the Syracuse Hancock International Airport. Within 15 minutes is Terry’s Food Mart.
Duck Lake residents can take the meager 15-minute drive to the New York Pizzeria, a brick oven pizza and classic Italian restaurant that is a favorite among locals.
The popular fish species in the lake include largemouth bass, tiger musky, northern pike, black crappie, bluegill, pumpkinseed, sunfish, yellow perch, common carp, and brown bullhead. The lake is home to the New York record for black crappie.
Boaters can access the lake via the public boat launch on the lake’s campgrounds.
Surrounding the lake is the Duck Lake Campground, which is open from May to October and rents cabins with electricity, showers, and picnic areas.
Walcot Falls, a popular scenic landmark, is 15 minutes from the lake. Hikers have a short and easy trek to the falls and can even bring their dog!
Though Lake Ontario, only half an hour from Duck Lake, is the smallest of the Great Lakes, it is known for its unique and large fish. Anglers here can expect to catch salmon, brown trout, steelhead, walleye, pike, and bass. Ice fishing is popular here in the winter along the shorelines.
Duck Lake is in an ideal location for anyone who loves to reel in large fish or a quiet lakeside retreat near the Great Lakes region. It just might be the location of your next lake home!
