Copake Lake

Convenient to Albany and New York City

Copake Lake is a community in southern Columbia County, New York. The lake is 410 acres in size, with 1.3 miles of shoreline.

The lake sits on the western side of Copake, which is named for the lake. Copake Lake is located about 95 miles north of New York City and 50 miles from Albany.

A Great Spot For Fishing

Copake Lake has a large warm water fishery, which makes it a popular spot for local anglers.

Largemouth and smallmouth bass over 15 inches are plentiful, with both species having been caught in the three-six pound range.

The lake has an abundant panfish population and large populations of yellow perch and white perch with averages measuring 10-12 inches. Anglers may also catch the occasional walleye.

You can also enjoy swimming, boating, kayaking, and canoeing in Copake Lake. There is a cartop boat launch located on the southeast side of the lake for easy water access.

Hike Taconic State Park

To the east of Copake Lake is Taconic State Park, located on 16 miles of the Taconic Mountain Range and runs along with the New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut state borders.

Copake Falls and Rudd Pond are two popular stops in the park that offer extensive trail systems for camping, hiking, nature viewing, and more.

Visit Albany, New York

Albany is best known for its status as the New York State Capital, which makes visiting the state capitol building a must for some people. The building itself is magnificent with 19th-century architecture in a European style.

You can also tour the New York State Museum and the Albany Institute of History & Art if you enjoy learning about local art and history.
