Chase Lake is a 64-acre lake north of Pinnacle, New York, and part of the Shaker Mountain Wild Forest. Albany is 65 miles away, perfect for a day trip.

It is 24 minutes from Nathan Littauer Hospital and an hour and a half from Albany International Airport. It is also within a half of Hannaford Supermarket and Saves A Lot.

The Wild Forest

The wild forest that engulfs Chase Lake consists of over 40,000 acres and is the southernmost unit in the Adirondack Forest Preserve. The forest is ripe with outdoor adventures, with numerous miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. There are also places to snowshoe, cross country ski, and snowmobile.

At Chase Lake, hikers can embark on the Chase Lake Trail, which ends at the lake’s shoreline. Be sure to bring your furry best friend because the trail is pet-friendly!

On the water, anglers can expect to reel in pickerel, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed. Anglers also enjoy ice fishing during the cold months.

Great Sacandaga Lake

Another body of water in the area is the Great Sacandaga Lake, one of the largest lakes in the Adirondack Mountains. The lake is 29 miles long, and visitors are free to camp, boat, waterski, and jet ski. In the winter, ice fishing is also popular, as well as snowmobiling and cross country skiing.

Albany, the capital of New York, is perfect for an exhilarating daycation that any Chase Lake resident will enjoy.

Visitors can learn the monumental heritage of the Navy by touring the USS Slater DE-766, the restored Cannon-class destroyer that was decommissioned in 1991.
