Cazenovia Lake

Convenient to Syracuse, New York

Cazenovia Lake is just 30 minutes southeast of Syracuse and is located in Madison County, New York.

The lake is bordered by Cazenovia's town and the village of Cazenovia, which makes this destination a popular tourist attraction. Both the city and village offer many opportunities for vacationing visitors to enjoy the lake's beauty and history.

Cazenovia Lake is the largest glacier lake in Madison County and is nearly 1,200 acres in surface area. The waterbody exceeds nine miles of shoreline, with a maximum depth of 49 feet and an average depth of 19 feet.

Many visitors enjoy recreational activities on this lake, including kayaking, sailing, boating, and fishing. Avid anglers enjoy fishing for pickerel, largemouth bass, northern pike, black crappie, bluegill, and walleye.

Just seven miles to the east of Cazenovia lake is Chittenango Falls, State Park. This park is home to a 167-foot waterfall that dates back more than 10,000 years. The park covers 193 acres and sees over 45,000 visitors each year. It is a great park to hike, have a picnic, and take in New York's natural beauty.

Famous golf clubs near the lake are Cazenovia Golf Club, Woodcrest Golf Club, and Cavalry Club. Cazenovia Golf Club was established in 1986 and is one of the oldest continually run private golf clubs. It is situated high above Cazenovia Lake and provides picturesque views of the waters below.

Cazenovia is a smaller town with a quaint, quiet feel. It has a few local restaurants, places to stay, convenience stores, and Dunkin' Donuts.

This is an excellent place for people to step away from a busier city's buzz, but Syracuse is only thirty minutes away if you miss city amenities.
