Canada Lake, also known as Stink Lake, is a lake located in the Town of Caroga in Fulton County, New York. It is 554 acres in size, with 6.1 miles of shoreline.

What makes Canada Lake unique, besides its name, is its depth. It is one of the deeper natural lakes in the area, with a mean depth of 70 feet.

Albany, New York, is about a 65-minute drive from Canada Lake. It is the perfect weekend getaway if the city gets too busy.

Fishing and Boating

Due to the lake’s exceptional depths, it is the perfect, cold lake and brown trout to thrive. You can also find brown bullhead, chain pickerel, smallmouth bass, lake whitefish, yellow perch, and pumpkinseed. Each year the lake is stocked with brown trout and lake trout to help maintain a healthy population.

Are the winter months approaching? That is not a problem on Canada Lake. Ice fishing is permitted and is enjoyed by many of the residents.

Boating can also be enjoyed on Canada Lake! The Canada Lake Store & Marina has a cafe, grocery items, ice cream, lake gear, and boat rentals.
